Theresa Nist, who gained national attention after her romance and subsequent marriage to Gerry Turner on the first season of “The Golden Bachelor,” has confirmed she will not be part of the cast for the tenth season of “Bachelor in Paradise.”
Nist’s journey with Turner was a whirlwind, culminating in a televised wedding in January 2024. However, the marriage was short-lived, ending in a divorce just three months later, citing fundamental lifestyle differences and incompatibility.
With the recent announcement that the new season of the popular spinoff would integrate alumni from the “Golden” series, speculation swirled that Nist might seek a new romantic connection on the show. In a recent podcast appearance, Nist disclosed that she had, in fact, progressed through the initial casting stages and even traveled to the filming location in Costa Rica.
Despite the early momentum, Nist experienced a change of heart. She explained that upon reflection, her primary excitement was not about forming a new romantic bond but rather about the prospect of reuniting with female friends from the franchise for a tropical getaway.
“I realized my genuine enthusiasm was for seeing the women again and enjoying a vacation with them,” Nist stated. “It didn’t feel authentic to enter the process with that mindset. I had no desire to pretend or force a connection for the sake of the show.”
This hesitation, she believes, ultimately led producers to pass on her for the final cast. After expressing her doubts, she was informed she was not selected, with the implication that she appeared insufficiently committed to the show’s central premise of finding love.
The upcoming season, hosted by Jesse Palmer, is set to make history by blending contestants from the classic “Bachelor” and “Bachelorette” programs with stars from the newer “Golden” iterations for the first time.
“Bachelor in Paradise” Season 10 is scheduled to premiere on Monday, July 7.
