FORMER ROYAL’S DEMANDS FOR ESTATE HOME SPARK DEBATE

A member of the British royal family, recently stripped of his official titles, is at the center of new reports concerning his housing arrangements. Having been required to vacate his previous, long-term residence, the individual is now said to be seeking a substantial property on a private royal estate.

According to sources familiar with the discussions, the request is for a home with six or seven bedrooms. Furthermore, he is reportedly asking for a full complement of domestic staff to be provided, including roles such as a chef, gardener, and security personnel.

Those close to him have framed the requests as a matter of fairness, suggesting that relinquishing a significant lease warrants appropriate alternative accommodations. “He has complied with what was asked and simply wishes for a reasonable resolution,” one associate was quoted as saying.

However, other commentators suggest the negotiations are primarily financial in nature. A former palace insider indicated that the process effectively involves a financial settlement for the terminated lease, leading to detailed bargaining over the terms.

The move to a new property follows an official announcement last autumn confirming the removal of his royal styles and honours. The statement at the time noted the action was necessary, independent of his continued denial of longstanding personal allegations.

Despite the change in his official status, critics claim his lifestyle expectations remain unchanged. One source described his conduct as “entitled,” alleging that he continues to maintain lavish habits, including ordering expensive food and drink for social gatherings, despite a reportedly diminished social circle. His household’s consumption, particularly of premium meats, is said to result in significant monthly expenditures, with surplus food often discarded.

The situation highlights the ongoing complexities and costs associated with supporting former senior royals in private life, even after their formal ties to the institution have been severed.
