A recently disclosed email has revealed that Prince Andrew contacted the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein just one day after a photograph of the Duke of York with Virginia Giuffre was made public. The correspondence, dated February 28, 2011, suggests a continued association between the royal and the financier even as scrutiny intensified.
In the message, the Prince reportedly wrote to Epstein, stating, “It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it,” and closed with, “Otherwise keep in touch.” He further indicated a desire to maintain their relationship, adding, “We’ll play some more soon,” a phrase interpreted by observers as an intention to resume their interactions after public attention subsided. The email was signed with his formal title and the initials “KG,” denoting his position as a Knight of the Garter.
The photograph at the center of the controversy depicts a younger Prince Andrew with his arm around Giuffre, with Ghislaine Maxwell also visible. While Giuffre appeared to be smiling in the image, she later filed a civil lawsuit against the Prince in 2021. In her legal claim, she alleged she was trafficked to him on multiple occasions when she was 17 years old.
Prior to her passing in April, Giuffre’s personal diaries contained detailed accounts of her alleged encounters with the Duke of York. The entries described interactions following an introduction by Maxwell, including assertions that the Prince expressed a particular fixation on her feet. Andrew has consistently denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
The civil suit was resolved through an out-of-court settlement in 2022, which included a financial payment to Giuffre from Prince Andrew. The terms of the agreement were not made public. This newly surfaced email adds another layer to the documented history between the British royal and the disgraced financier.
