FRIEND DEFENDS MEGHAN MARKLE AFTER BACKLASH OVER PERSONAL PREGNANCY VIDEO

A close friend of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has spoken out forcefully against critics who targeted the royal after she shared a private family video. The footage, posted earlier this month to mark her daughter’s fourth birthday, showed Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, dancing in a hospital room shortly before the birth of their child.

The celebratory clip was met with a wave of negative commentary online, with some users questioning its authenticity and criticizing Meghan’s demeanor. In response, friend Christopher Bouzy issued a strong statement condemning the reaction.

“Consider what it is like to have your most joyful and vulnerable moments weaponized for hatred,” Bouzy stated. “This relentless scrutiny, where every personal detail is twisted into so-called evidence for bizarre conspiracy theories, is both cruel and damaging.”

Bouzy emphasized the severe personal impact of such campaigns, revealing that the duchess had experienced profound distress. “We must acknowledge the real-world consequences,” he said. “This sustained harassment has exacted a heavy toll, contributing to a state of deep despair. Beyond the individual suffering, this phenomenon erodes our shared sense of truth and basic decency.”

The defense was echoed by television personality Candiace Dillard, who challenged a social media user’s claim that Meghan’s movements in the video were not believable for a woman late in pregnancy. Dillard shared her own post-birth photo, stating, “At nine months pregnant, I was extremely active. So perhaps just admit your issue is with a Black woman in this role, and move on.” She described the criticism as a clear example of enduring “misogynoir”—prejudice rooted in both racism and sexism.

The couple has not publicly commented on the controversy surrounding the video. The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the intense public scrutiny faced by the family and the lines between public interest and private life.
