A recently disclosed email has revealed direct communication between a senior British royal and the convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein, sent just one day after a controversial photograph linking the two men was made public.
The message, dated February 28, 2011, was sent from the royal’s account to Epstein. In it, the royal appears to acknowledge the shared scrutiny they faced following the release of the image, which depicted him with his arm around a young woman, Virginia Giuffre. The email stated, “It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it,” and concluded with, “Otherwise keep in touch.”
The correspondence further suggested an intention to resume contact once public attention subsided, with the royal adding, “We’ll play some more soon.” The email was signed with the royal’s formal title and the initials of a chivalric honor.
This communication emerged amidst longstanding allegations made by Giuffre, who was 17 at the time of the alleged incidents. She had previously filed a lawsuit claiming she was trafficked to the royal on multiple occasions. In personal diary entries, she provided detailed accounts of their encounters, which included descriptions of unwanted physical advances and specific, unusual fixations.
Despite these allegations and the existence of the photograph, which also featured Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell in the background, the royal has consistently denied any wrongdoing. The civil lawsuit brought against him was resolved through a private, out-of-court settlement in 2022, the terms of which were not disclosed.
The release of this email provides a new dimension to the established timeline of events, offering a glimpse into the private response of a high-profile figure to a growing public scandal.
