SENTENCING LOOMS FOR SEAN COMBS AS DEFENSE SEEKS RELEASE

A New York federal judge will determine the fate of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs next month, with his legal team making a final plea for his immediate release.

In a sentencing memorandum filed this week, Combs’s attorneys requested that their client receive a sentence of no more than 14 months, a term he has already served while awaiting sentencing. This follows his conviction earlier this year on two counts related to the transportation of individuals for prostitution. The filing argues that further incarceration is unnecessary, stating Combs has already endured significant punishment, including the collapse of his career and over a year in a federal detention facility.

“The jury has spoken with its verdict,” the defense document states, framing the acquittal on more severe trafficking and racketeering charges as a clear indication. They contend that the most just outcome is for Combs to return home to his family, begin mandated therapy and drug treatment, and attempt to rebuild his life.

The submission was accompanied by dozens of letters from family members, including his elderly mother and several of his children, appealing for compassion and his return.

Prosecutors are expected to counter this request with their own formal recommendations ahead of the October 3rd hearing. They have previously indicated they will seek a sentence significantly longer than initial estimates, potentially up to the statutory maximum of 20 years for the two convictions.

The hearing will mark the final chapter in the high-profile case, deciding whether the once-dominant figure in the music industry will walk free or face additional years in prison.
