Josh Duggar, a former television personality, is reportedly refusing all interview requests in the wake of a recent incident at the Federal Correctional Institution in Seagoville, Texas. The situation has drawn renewed public attention to the facility where he is serving his sentence.
According to sources, Duggar has no desire to speak with the press. This decision follows the circulation of photographs and video footage of him taken from outside the prison’s recreational yard.
The increased scrutiny coincides with new restrictions placed on inmates’ commissary spending at the facility. Reports indicate that a disruptive prank by an inmate, involving a chemical mixture that injured a staff member, prompted prison officials to impose a temporary $25 spending limit. This is a significant reduction from the standard monthly allowance.
A representative from the prison explained that the restriction was a precautionary measure during the investigation to ensure fairness among the inmate population.
These spending limits come amid broader discussions about conditions within the prison system, including food quality. While some reports have cited issues like insect infestations at other facilities, sources familiar with FCI Seagoville maintain it has a positive reputation for its food service relative to other institutions.
Duggar is currently serving a sentence of over 12 years after being convicted in 2022 on charges related to child sexual abuse material. His legal team had previously expressed intent to appeal the conviction.
