A significant change in residence for the senior members of the Royal Family has brought them into closer proximity to a relative at the center of ongoing controversy. The Prince and Princess of Wales have now settled into their new home at Forest Lodge within Windsor Great Park.
The move, completed ahead of its original schedule, sees the family transitioning from their previous, smaller residence to an eight-room Georgian mansion. The new property is reported to offer extensive amenities suited for a family with three young children, including substantial grounds.
This relocation places the Wales’s household approximately two miles from Royal Lodge, the current home of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. The latter is in the process of vacating that residence following a formal decision by the monarchy to remove his royal styles and titles. A palace spokesperson confirmed the action, stating the move to alternative private accommodation was necessary, while noting the individual continues to deny the allegations against him.
The title removal process is connected to longstanding associations with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein. In 2022, a financial settlement was reached in a civil case brought by Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew Mountbatten Windsor of sexual assault when she was a teenager—allegations he has consistently denied.
The future of the Royal Lodge lease, secured for a nominal rent decades ago, has been a subject of discussion within royal circles. There is no confirmed timeline for the departure, which also necessitates new arrangements for his former wife, who has resided at the property.
Reports indicate that the Prince of Wales has been supportive of the sovereign’s decisions regarding this matter, with sources suggesting a firm stance has been taken to protect the institution’s integrity. The relocation of the Wales family is viewed as a long-term arrangement, establishing a permanent base for their duties.
