A close friend of the late Princess Diana has shared that the beloved royal would have been heartbroken by the profound and public rift between her sons.
In a recent conversation, Jenni Rivett, who served as Diana’s personal trainer for six years, reflected on the princess’s deepest priorities. “Her boys were her entire world,” Rivett stated. “To see the distance between them now would have devastated her. Above titles and duty, what she truly wanted was to be a wonderful mother.”
Rivett, who grew close to Diana during their sessions, recalled the princess often sharing personal hopes and struggles. She also remembered the lively presence of a young Prince William and Prince Harry, who would sometimes playfully interrupt their mother’s workouts at Kensington Palace.
The current state of the brothers’ relationship has been a focal point of public discussion for years. Tensions became openly acknowledged during a 2019 documentary, where one of the princes noted they were on “different paths” and experiencing both good and difficult days.
The dynamic shifted further the following year with a major decision to step back from royal life, followed by a high-profile television interview. Reports from insiders at the time suggested the relationship had reached a low point, with a significant breach of trust described as potentially irreparable.
Through it all, the enduring image, according to those who knew her best, is of a mother whose greatest wish was for her sons’ unity—a wish that now seems a poignant reminder of what has been lost.
