AUTHOR RECALLS PRINCESS DIANA’S UNEASE WITH PRINCE ANDREW’S CHARACTER

by Hannah Southwick

A new book has brought forward claims regarding the late Princess Diana’s personal impressions of her former brother-in-law, Prince Andrew. According to the author, Diana found the Duke of York’s demeanor to be overwhelming and puzzling.

The biography suggests the Princess of Wales considered Andrew to be excessively loud and boisterous, leaving her with a sense that something was amiss. She is reported to have said his particular character was not to her taste, expressing bewilderment at his purported preference for spending entire days watching television cartoons, which she interpreted not as laziness but as a lack of proactive energy.

These personal recollections emerge alongside renewed scrutiny of historical connections to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Released correspondence appears to place Epstein at the same London gallery event as Diana in 1994, with one draft account describing him with his arm around the Princess. Another version of the note omits this specific detail. The intended publication containing this anecdote was ultimately never printed.

In related testimony, Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s associate, referenced the event while being questioned. She indicated Epstein had social ties to Diana’s circle through a mutual friend but claimed uncertainty over whether any meeting was arranged as a potential romantic introduction, declining to comment further on the Princess’s character.

The princess died in 1997, years before the full extent of Prince Andrew’s association with Epstein and subsequent legal controversies became public knowledge.
