The former partner of ex-NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has issued a public statement for the first time since his recent arrest on serious charges.
Erin Campaneris, a model known professionally as Bobby T., addressed the situation via social media. She shares an eight-year-old son, Daniel, with Sanchez.
“My primary concern has always been, and will remain, our son,” Campaneris stated. “I made a deliberate choice to stay quiet publicly to shield him during this time.”
Her comments follow an altercation in Indianapolis earlier this month that left Sanchez hospitalized with stab wounds. Authorities report the incident began as a confrontation with a 69-year-old truck driver outside a bar and escalated violently.
“Now that the situation is public, my focus is unchanged,” she continued. “I have always been concerned for Daniel’s safety and well-being. To be honest, none of this comes as a shock to me. I found out about the horrific event from a news alert on my phone while sitting with my son.”
Campaneris emphasized that her knowledge is limited to what has been reported publicly and expressed sympathy for those impacted. “My heart goes out to the victim and everyone affected by this devastating event, which has created a wide ripple effect,” she said.
She concluded her message with a request for understanding. “While I know we live in a very public world, my hope is that as my son grows, he can be seen separately from this story. I am simply a mother doing my best to protect my child’s peace. I am grateful for the compassion shown to us.”
According to law enforcement, the physical altercation resulted in Sanchez being pepper-sprayed and stabbed multiple times. The other individual involved sustained a facial injury. Following treatment at a local hospital, Sanchez was released and taken into custody.
He now faces criminal charges, including a felony count of battery. If convicted, he could potentially face several years in prison. Sanchez made a brief comment to reporters after his release, stating he was “focused on recovery” and thanking medical personnel, but declined to discuss the specifics of the case.
A court hearing related to the matter is scheduled for early November.
