Security camera footage from a residential neighborhood has been released, showing the man accused of killing political commentator Charlie Kirk in the hours before the fatal shooting.
The video, obtained by investigators, captures the suspect, identified as Tyler Robinson, driving through a suburban area in the early morning. Later footage shows him on foot, wearing different clothing than what was described at the scene of the crime.
The shooting occurred on September 10th at a university campus event where Kirk was hosting a public debate. During the event, after a question was posed from the audience, Kirk was shot. He was transported to a hospital but did not survive.
Robinson was taken into custody days later. According to statements from officials, his father, a former law enforcement officer, contacted authorities after a conversation with his son, leading to the arrest.
In a statement following the death, a former U.S. President described Kirk as a pivotal figure in engaging with young Americans and called for the severest penalty for the accused. The suspect now faces charges related to the homicide.
The release of the footage has heightened a sense of unease among some residents in the area where it was recorded, with one homeowner describing a lingering feeling of disturbance knowing the accused had passed through their community.
