SUSPECT IN POLITICAL SHOOTING CLAIMS “DOPPELGÄNGER” RESPONSIBLE, WITHHOLDS COOPERATION FROM INVESTIGATORS

The individual accused of fatally shooting political commentator Charlie Kirk is reportedly refusing to cooperate with law enforcement, while bizarrely asserting that a lookalike was responsible for the attack.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the suspect’s lack of cooperation during a recent national television interview. “The suspect has not been cooperating so far,” Cox stated, noting that information is currently being pieced together from forensic evidence and statements provided by the individual’s family and associates.

Authorities report that prior to his arrest last Thursday, the 22-year-old suspect allegedly confessed to a family member that he was responsible for the killing. Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 during an event at Utah Valley University.

Despite being identified through law enforcement databases, the suspect allegedly attempted to deflect blame in online conversations with friends. He claimed his “doppelgänger” had committed the act and was attempting to frame him. When a member of the online group suggested reporting him for a substantial reward, the suspect reportedly quipped that he would only agree if he received a portion of the money.

In these same exchanges, the suspect made several sardonic remarks, joking about disposing of a “manifesto” and a rifle, and mockingly dismissing reports about specific inscriptions on ammunition as fabrications. He also speculated, without evidence, that the perpetrator was “clearly” from California.

While the primary suspect remains uncooperative, investigators have found a more willing source of information. Governor Cox confirmed that the suspect’s roommate, who is described as a romantic partner currently undergoing a gender transition, has been fully cooperative with authorities. Cox emphasized that this individual appeared to have no prior knowledge of the planned attack and was reportedly shocked by the allegations.

The suspect is scheduled to face prosecution this week on charges including aggravated murder. While a clear motive for the shooting has not been publicly established by officials, further details may emerge as the legal proceedings begin.
