FORMER PRESIDENT CALLS FOR RELEASE OF SEALED EPSTEIN CASE RECORDS

by Nicki Gostin

In a significant development, former President Donald Trump has formally requested that the sealed grand jury testimonies from the investigation into the late financier Jeffrey Epstein be made public.

The request was directed to Attorney General Pam Bondi. In a public statement, Trump characterized the ongoing focus on the Epstein case as a politically motivated effort, urging for transparency to end what he termed a prolonged controversy. Bondi responded promptly, indicating a readiness to petition the court for the release of the transcripts.

This move comes amid heightened scrutiny and follows a media report detailing an alleged personal letter from Trump to Epstein dated over two decades ago. According to the report, the note was part of a collection examined by federal investigators. The contents of the letter, as described, included stylized text and drawings. Trump has denied authorship of the document.

Epstein, who was facing federal sex trafficking charges, died in a New York jail cell in 2019. His death was ruled a suicide. His prior legal history includes a 2008 Florida state guilty plea for soliciting prostitution, which involved a minor, resulting in a jail sentence served partially under a work-release arrangement.

The push to unseal the grand jury records is framed by the former president’s camp as a step toward resolving unanswered questions and countering narratives they view as unfounded.
