A former participant of the television series “16 and Pregnant” is now facing serious legal consequences following a fatal incident. Whitney Purvis was taken into custody this week in Floyd County, Georgia, on a charge of felony involuntary manslaughter.
The arrest stems from allegations that Purvis intentionally distributed a dangerous drug combination, commonly referred to as “Tranq,” which contains Fentanyl and Xylazine. Authorities state that the distribution of this substance led to the overdose and death of a man named John Mark Harris. In addition to the manslaughter charge, Purvis was also arrested on two separate counts related to controlled substances, including possession with intent to distribute.
This legal development follows a period of profound personal tragedy for Purvis. Just last month, her 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa Jr., passed away. In social media posts, Purvis expressed overwhelming grief, writing of her disbelief and pain, calling the loss her “worst nightmare come true.”
The circumstances surrounding her son’s funeral also became a point of public contention. While an insider suggested Purvis was denied entry to the service, leaving her “devastated,” the child’s father offered a different account. He stated that Purvis was invited and was on the guest list but arrived after the scheduled viewing period had concluded and the service had begun. He reported that when she was unable to gain entry at that time, it led to a heated exchange.
Purvis has had previous encounters with law enforcement, including an arrest in 2021. The current charges mark a significant escalation in her legal troubles, directly linking her to a loss of life. The case is now proceeding through the judicial system.
