JURY REACHES PARTIAL VERDICT IN HIGH-PROFILE TRAFFICKING CASE

A federal jury has informed the court it has reached decisions on the majority of charges in a closely watched criminal trial, though deliberations are set to continue. The panel reported on Tuesday that it had agreed on verdicts for four out of five counts but remained deadlocked on a central racketeering charge.

In a note to the judge, jurors indicated an impasse, stating that “unpersuadable jurors on both sides” prevented a consensus on the remaining count. The judge subsequently ordered the jury to resume its discussions.

The defendant, a prominent music industry figure, has been on trial for nearly two months in a Manhattan federal court. The proceedings have featured testimony from several individuals, including former romantic partners and associates, who provided accounts of alleged criminal conduct spanning years.

Prosecutors have portrayed the defendant as the leader of a criminal enterprise involved with narcotics and commercial sex. The defense has countered that the evidence is insufficient to support the charges, which include racketeering and sex trafficking. The individual has pleaded not guilty.

The defendant has been in custody without bail since an arrest in late 2024, which followed a federal investigation. Law enforcement searches of properties at that time allegedly uncovered large quantities of baby oil and various narcotics. Prosecutors have contended these items were used during organized events described as explicit sex performances.

Authorities have alleged these events were orchestrated and recorded, with participation secured through means of intimidation, violence, and the distribution of drugs. Testimony during the trial included accounts from two former girlfriends, who described their involvement in these events and, in one case, detailed allegations of sustained physical and emotional abuse.

The jury, composed of eight men and four women, began its deliberations earlier this week following closing arguments.
