A MIAMI HOME STEEPED IN HISTORY AND CELEBRITY FINDS A NEW CHAPTER

A piece of Miami’s storied social history is now available on the market. The longtime Coconut Grove residence of the late Elsa Patton, a beloved local personality known for her wit and vibrant hosting, has been listed for sale.

The decision to part with the family home, which carries an asking price of $4.95 million, was a deeply personal one for Elsa’s daughter. She shared that it took several years following her mother’s passing to feel ready to let go of the property, a place filled with decades of memories.

“The spirit of my mother, her joy and her energy, has moved on with me,” she explained. “I’ve reached a point of peace about passing the house to someone new, knowing the happiness it held.”

Built in 1958, the 4,000-square-foot split-level home at 2120 South Bayshore Drive offers a unique blend of vintage charm and Florida luxury. The residence features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and distinct living, dining, and kitchen areas. Its most notable asset is a lush backyard that opens to a private boat dock, an ideal setting for entertainment.

The home’s legacy is one of glamour and conviviality. Elsa Patton was renowned for her legendary parties, hosting a stream of celebrities and setting what many described as the most beautiful table in town. The property itself seems to have been a magnet for fame; previous neighbors included iconic playwright Tennessee Williams, who was reportedly a frequent sight on the balcony, working on his typewriter.

The family has long believed the house to be a source of good fortune. “My mother always said this house brought prosperity,” the daughter recalled. “It was a place of success and wonderful energy for my parents, and for me when I lived here.” Following her parents’ passing, the home was rented out, with tenants also reportedly enjoying its positive atmosphere.

Now, this iconic Miami property, with its rich tapestry of social history, celebrity lore, and family memories, awaits its next owner to write a new chapter in its storied existence.
