For a couple who first found fame on a reality series documenting the challenges of young parenthood, stepping into the world of home design television has been a refreshing and joyful pivot. Chelsea and Cole DeBoer, now seasoned hosts of their own HGTV series, are opening up about the third season of their show and why this creative partnership feels like a perfect fit.
The couple admits they entered the television landscape with modest expectations. “When we started, we truly had no idea what would happen,” Chelsea reflects. Getting the initial green light was a surprise, and each subsequent season feels like an incredible gift. “We love this work so deeply; it’s a dream we hope to continue for a long time,” she adds, with Cole emphasizing their enthusiasm every time a new season is confirmed.
A significant part of the appeal, Chelsea notes, is the tonal shift from her previous television experience. “This show is intentionally lighthearted. It focuses on creativity, transformation, and ends with that rewarding reveal. It’s feel-good television, and that’s exactly what we wanted to create.” While acknowledging the hard work involved, Cole highlights the unique benefit of collaborating as spouses, stating it strengthens their bond and allows them to share in every success.
Juggling a production schedule with a busy family life of four children, the pair has learned to cherish their time on set. “We steal moments for just the two of us, like a quiet lunch,” Chelsea explains. “With our family, that kind of alone time is rare, so we see this as a special opportunity. The real chaos waits for us at home!”
As for the upcoming season, both are eager for audiences to see the results. Chelsea calls it their best work yet, while Cole hints at a more relaxed and authentic on-screen dynamic. “We let our guard down and had even more fun this time around,” he shares. “We were truly able to be ourselves.”
The new season of their home renovation series premieres this week.
