The decision to return to formal education was driven by a deep-seated curiosity and a desire for foundational knowledge. “I reached a point where I wanted to move beyond a surface-level hobby,” she explained. “I needed to go back to the basics, to truly understand the craft from the ground up.” Now attending classes alongside students decades younger, she describes the experience as both challenging and invigorating. “It’s demanding, certainly, but it’s awakening a part of my mind. Key to this endeavor, she says, is the unwavering support of her spouse, a celebrated athlete. “Having a true partner makes everything possible,” she shared. “We approach our family and careers as a team. That balance and mutual support is foundational; without it, taking on a challenge like this would be far more difficult.”
Amidst the pressures of public life and the intensity of her new studies, she finds essential respite on her farm, which she describes as a personal refuge. “It is my sanctuary, a place of peace and quiet,” she said. “Caring for the animals and being surrounded by nature provides a crucial grounding effect. It’s particularly meaningful to provide a home for rescued animals—it’s a rewarding counterbalance to everything else.”
