In a heartfelt personal reflection, entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson has detailed the final days spent with his wife, Joan Templeman Branson, following her recent passing. The business magnate described a profound sense of loss while celebrating a lifetime of shared joy and partnership.

Branson, alongside their children Holly and Sam, penned an intimate tribute, focusing on the immense positivity his late wife brought into their lives. He emphasized the family’s effort to cherish countless happy memories during this period of grief.

The couple, married since 1989, shared a partnership spanning nearly fifty years and were parents to three children. Their family endured the earlier tragedy of losing their youngest child shortly after birth.

Branson recounted that in her final days, he and Joan found themselves receiving care on the same hospital floor, a circumstance they found characteristically fitting. He described sharing a “lovely lunch” where Joan was in positive spirits, her smile as radiant as when they first met half a century ago.

He reflected that her passing was peaceful. While acknowledging that life would be irrevocably changed, Branson focused on five decades of a deep, joyful, and fortunate partnership that fundamentally shaped their family.

“She was my everything,” he wrote, describing her as the constant, guiding light for their family—a light he believes will continue to illuminate their path forward.

The announcement of Joan Templeman Branson’s death was made public earlier this week. In his initial statement, Branson remembered her as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and his best friend, rock, and guiding light.
