BRAVO HALTS PLANS FOR ‘REAL HOUSEWIVES OF TORONTO’ FOLLOWING INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISE STRUGGLES

Plans for a new installment in the “Real Housewives” reality television empire have been shelved. Network executives have reportedly canceled development on “The Real Housewives of Toronto,” a decision linked to the performance of another international branch of the franchise.

According to sources familiar with the matter, a pilot for the Toronto-based series was in the works but has now been scrapped. The move is said to be a direct result of the underwhelming reception to “The Real Housewives of Dubai.” That series, the franchise’s first venture outside the United States, was paused in late 2024 after its second season drew modest linear television audiences. The network has consequently decided to refocus its efforts on domestic productions rather than expanding its global footprint.

When asked about the long-rumored “Real Housewives of London,” insiders clarified that project is not a Bravo production but is being developed by a separate streaming service. Bravo will instead air a new season of the unrelated series “Ladies of London.”

While the Toronto chapter is closed, fans of the franchise have a new U.S. location to anticipate. Production is slated to begin soon on “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.” The cast will feature a familiar face in a supporting role: Dolores Catania, a star from “The Real Housewives of New Jersey.” Sources indicate Catania, who is friends with a primary Rhode Island cast member, will appear as a “friend of the Housewives,” potentially renting a summer home in the area. Her involvement is described as significant but not central to the show’s foundation, with the possibility of a more permanent role depending on the series’ success.

Network representatives typically do not comment on casting or development decisions.
