Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite convicted for her role in a sex trafficking conspiracy, has described a significant improvement in her living conditions following a transfer to a federal prison camp in Texas.
In correspondence reviewed by news outlets, Maxwell, 63, expressed a marked preference for the Federal Prison Camp Bryan over her previous facility in Florida. She cited the orderly management, perceived safety, and cleanliness of the Texas institution as key factors in her improved outlook.
“The institution is run in an orderly fashion which makes for a safer, more comfortable environment for all people concerned, inmates and guards alike,” she wrote. Maxwell specifically noted the absence of issues she associated with other facilities, such as prevalent drug deals or physical altercations.
Her comments included observations on hygiene, contrasting the kitchen at her new location favorably with past experiences. “The kitchen looks clean too,” she stated.
Maxwell also praised the prison’s warden, describing her as “a true professional.”
The transfer occurred in August, shortly after Maxwell met with a senior official from the Department of Justice. During that meeting, she is reported to have provided information regarding numerous individuals connected to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, with whom she was long associated.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for crimes including the grooming and trafficking of underage girls for sexual abuse by Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial. She has served approximately four years of her sentence.
At the Texas minimum-security camp, Maxwell reportedly receives standard accommodations, including the ability to have meals in her room and scheduled evening access to exercise and bathing facilities after other inmates have retired.
