During a recent television appearance, country music icon Reba McEntire found herself playfully correcting the host’s terminology regarding her personal life. The mix-up occurred when the host referred to McEntire’s partner, actor Rex Linn, as her “husband.”
“Now, wait a minute,” McEntire interjected with a smile. “Before everybody has a conniption fit at home, we’re just engaged.” She humorously explained that she wanted to avoid any confusion, especially among family members who might wonder why they hadn’t been informed of a wedding.
Linn, who was present for the segment, appeared briefly puzzled by the error but smiled warmly as McEntire discussed their relationship. The couple, who became engaged in December of last year, met on the set of the television series Happy’s Place, where they both star as an on-screen couple.
McEntire shared insights into their dynamic, praising Linn’s dedication. “He is a workaholic, and he loves to rehearse,” she said, noting that his disciplined approach complements her own style. “He really makes sure that I know my lines, that I’m ready to go… We have a blast. We’re so grateful that we get to go to work together and then go home together.”
The engagement was initially kept private due to external circumstances. McEntire revealed that Linn proposed on Christmas Eve, but the couple delayed their announcement out of respect for communities affected by wildfires at the time. The news eventually became public months later.
Looking ahead, the singer indicated that their wedding plans will reflect their personalities. “It’s going to be low-key, lots of fun, lots of people, lots of food,” she described. “Our big motto is just have fun.”
McEntire and Linn first connected professionally years ago but began a romantic relationship in 2020 after he reached out to her during a family illness. They have been inseparable since.
