Newly unsealed legal filings have revealed a tense alleged confrontation between actor Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively’s film co-star, Justin Baldoni. The incident, said to have occurred in the couple’s New York City residence in April 2023, reportedly involved accusations of inappropriate commentary.
According to the documents, Reynolds confronted Baldoni over remarks perceived as critical of Lively’s weight. The interaction is described as heated, leaving Baldoni reportedly embarrassed and leading to an emotional apology. The filings further claim two other major celebrities were present in the apartment during this exchange.
These allegations emerge from an ongoing and contentious lawsuit between Lively and Baldoni, who co-starred in a recent film adaptation. Lively has filed a suit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and of orchestrating a smear campaign, claims which Baldoni has consistently denied.
The legal dispute has brought several behind-the-scenes details to light. A resurfaced video from the film set appears to show Baldoni making a comment to Lively, followed by him noting she had something in her teeth. In the clip, Baldoni references missing “sexual harassment training.” His legal team has argued the remark was “entirely unremarkable,” noting Lively was wearing casual attire at the time.
A separate point of contention involves deleted footage from the film. Baldoni’s legal team, in a motion, claimed Lively improvised a kiss during a scene where no kiss was scripted. They allege she “oversaw” this addition. Lively’s side has previously stated that any improvisation of kissing scenes would not continue after a production hiatus.
Baldoni’s representatives have countered the harassment allegations robustly. In a January filing, they disputed that any unscripted kissing occurred during the initial filming period, asserting that the only kisses filmed were those expressly written in the script.
With a trial date set for March 2026, both parties are expected to testify, potentially bringing further details of the film set dynamics and the personal confrontation into public record.
