Reality television star Dylan Efron is embracing the intense challenge of competing on a popular dance competition, attributing his progress to a relentless work ethic and a seamless partnership with his professional dance instructor.
In a recent interview, Efron emphasized how seriously he takes the judges’ critiques, using their feedback to shape his weekly rehearsals. He specifically noted one judge’s consistent advice to embody more of a “leading man” presence on the dance floor, a note he and his partner actively incorporate into their routine development.
The competitor reserved his highest praise for his professional partner, Daniella Karagach. He described their pairing as “perfect,” crediting her unparalleled dedication and willingness to invest extra time as the key factors in his rapid improvement. “I could have been with a lot of pros,” Efron stated, “but I wouldn’t be half as good as I am right now because she’s willing to go that extra mile with me.”
Efron, who had no prior dance experience, called the competition “one of the coolest experiences” of his life. He acknowledged the immense difficulty, admitting it has been more work than he initially anticipated. He connects his ability to handle the pressure not to innate talent, but to a lifelong habit of perseverance. “I think where I am not the best at anything, I rely on my work ethic,” he explained. “I love pushing myself, and that’s my superpower in this.”
Beyond the ballroom, Efron is channeling his platform to support a cause close to his heart: the adoption of senior pets. Partnering with a national pet hospital network for National Senior Pet Month, he aims to shed light on older animals in shelters who are often overlooked in favor of puppies.
His advocacy is deeply personal, inspired by his own dog, Booey, a German shepherd who has recently entered his senior years. A visit to the veterinarian, where he was confronted with his dog’s aging, solidified his mission. “It makes me want to do something for the senior pets because they get overlooked,” Efron shared.
He recounted advice from a dog trainer that shifted his perspective, noting that while puppies require extensive training, older adopted dogs often understand they are being given a home and form incredibly loyal bonds. “If you can adopt a senior dog,” he concluded, “you’re adopting a best friend for life.”
As he navigates the demands of the competition, Efron remains grounded, looking forward to returning to his normal life with his girlfriend and dog. He reflects on the past year, marked by success on another reality show and his current dance journey, with gratitude, savoring the experience while staying true to himself.
