Alana Thompson, widely recognized from her early fame on reality television, is set to narrate a deeply personal documentary about her journey. The film, titled I Was Honey Boo Boo, is scheduled to premiere in mid-May.

In a recent social media announcement, Thompson described the project as an opportunity to share her authentic story. She emphasized that the documentary will move beyond her public persona to address the realities of growing up in the spotlight, including family challenges and personal struggles. Thompson expressed hope that the film would foster understanding and healing, both for herself and for viewers who may relate to feeling misrepresented.

Thompson first gained national attention over a decade ago following an appearance on a popular child pageant series, which led to a spin-off show focusing on her family. That program was ultimately canceled several years later amid controversies surrounding her mother’s personal relationships.

The years that followed involved significant family upheaval, including a change in legal guardianship for Thompson in 2022. Her family has also endured profound loss, including the death of her older sister after a battle with cancer in late 2023.

Through this new documentary, Thompson aims to reclaim her narrative and shed light on the complex experiences behind her childhood fame.
