A former participant of the television series “16 and Pregnant” has been taken into custody on a serious charge connected to a man’s death.

Whitney Purvis was arrested by authorities in Floyd County, Georgia, on Monday. She faces a felony count of involuntary manslaughter, with officials alleging the charge stems from the intentional distribution of a lethal drug combination.

The substance in question, commonly referred to as “Tranq,” is reported to be a mix of Fentanyl and Xylazine. Investigators state that Purvis provided the drug to a man named John Mark Harris, who subsequently suffered a fatal overdose.

In addition to the manslaughter allegation, Purvis was also booked on two separate charges related to controlled substances, including possession with intent to distribute.

This legal development follows closely on the tragic personal loss of Purvis’s 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa Jr., who passed away in early June. Purvis publicly confirmed her son’s death in emotional social media posts, expressing profound grief and describing the loss as her “worst nightmare come true.”

Reports surfaced weeks later indicating Purvis was denied entry to her son’s funeral service, a claim that was contested by the child’s father. He stated that while Purvis was invited and on the guest list, she arrived after the scheduled start time and was unable to gain access, leading to a dispute.

Purvis has had previous encounters with law enforcement, including an arrest in 2021.

The case remains under investigation as legal proceedings begin.
