A former senior member of the British royal family and his ex-wife, already stripped of their official titles, are now confronting the possibility of being compelled to leave the United Kingdom entirely. This development comes as legal investigations into their conduct intensify.
According to a prominent royal biographer, the legal situation for the former prince is increasingly dire. The expert suggested that criminal charges related to financial misconduct and abuse of public office are likely, potentially leading to a prison sentence. “The evidence appears substantial; his position is untenable,” the commentator stated.
The investigations, reportedly being conducted by London’s police force, are said to focus on two primary areas. The first examines the former royal’s past official overseas trips, with scrutiny on his accommodation choices and allegations of improper conduct during his tenure as a trade representative. The second is a financial probe, including the controversial multi-million-dollar sale of a property to a foreign billionaire at a price significantly above its market value.
“The charges will likely center on financial irregularities, not other alleged offenses,” the biographer predicted, indicating the direction of the potential case.
His former wife, from whom he has been divorced for decades, is also reportedly entangled in the scandal. She is under investigation for allegedly diverting funds from book deals and public endorsements, meant for charitable work, to cover personal expenses. “The accusation is that charitable foundations were exploited for personal gain, which carries serious legal consequences,” the source added.
The biographer further speculated that the mounting legal pressure could force both individuals to seek residence abroad, naming specific countries as likely destinations for each.
This crisis marks a dramatic fall for the couple, who were formally stripped of their royal styles and titles by the monarch just last month. In an official decree, the palace announced the former prince would henceforth be known by his family surname. His ex-wife similarly lost her associated title, reverting to her maiden name.
While their two daughters retain their titles, the monarch is said to have reached a definitive breaking point with his brother. This decision was reportedly fueled by the persistent controversy surrounding the former royal’s association with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the latter’s criminal network.
The former royal has consistently denied all allegations against him.
