In a new podcast, a former actress has made a serious claim about how she became involved with the organization known as NXIVM, which was later exposed as a criminal enterprise.

The actress, who was convicted for her role in the group, stated that during a period of personal dissatisfaction in her mid-twenties, a fellow actress and close friend enthusiastically recommended NXIVM’s programs. According to her account, the friend described it as a transformative “science of joy” that had significantly improved her life and was a frequent topic of conversation.

Feeling a sense of emptiness despite professional success, the podcast host said she was persuaded to attend an introductory retreat with the group’s leaders. She claims this was her entry point into the organization.

The friend mentioned has publicly addressed her past involvement in separate statements, confirming she took courses years ago but left the group. She has stated she initially believed it to be a legitimate self-help program and has denied any participation in or knowledge of criminal activities.

NXIVM, which presented itself publicly as a personal and professional development company, was ultimately dismantled by authorities. Its founder was convicted on charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. The podcast host was sentenced to prison for her involvement and has recently been released.

The two actresses worked together on a popular television series that aired for a decade in the early 2000s.
