In a candid revelation, a prominent actress has admitted that her aversion to horror content is so intense she had to abandon watching the popular series Stranger Things during its latest season, deeming it “too scary.”
The actress, known for her roles in major action and dramatic films, confessed she is “such a wimp” when it comes to the genre. She stated she cannot watch horror movie trailers, let alone the films themselves. This makes her upcoming role in a new installment of The Exorcist franchise all the more surprising.
She described reading the script as a form of “exposure therapy,” noting it was the most terrifying—and the best—genre script she has ever encountered. Despite her fear, she was convinced to take the part by the film’s director, who suggested the experience could be “therapeutic.”
“Reading it, I was so terrified,” she shared. “I’ll never be able to see the film. It’s all of our worst nightmares.”
When asked about filming the physically and emotionally demanding scenes, the actress likened her approach to comforting a frightened child, reminding herself that the frightening elements are just pretend. She remains uncertain if this tactic will work, questioning aloud if she will be “terrified the entire time.”
The director has publicly praised the actress, calling her a “brilliant” performer whose grounded realism makes her a perfect fit for the project, which is scheduled to begin production shortly.
