JURY REACHES PARTIAL VERDICT IN HIGH-PROFILE TRAFFICKING CASE

A federal jury has informed the court it has reached decisions on the majority of charges in the high-profile criminal trial of music executive Sean Combs. The panel reported on Tuesday that it had come to a verdict on four of the five counts but remained deadlocked on a central racketeering charge.

In a note to the judge, jurors indicated an impasse, stating that “unpersuadable jurors on both sides” prevented a unanimous decision on the outstanding count. The presiding judge has ordered the panel to continue its deliberations.

The trial, which has unfolded over nearly two months in a Manhattan federal court, has featured testimony from several key witnesses, including former romantic partners and associates. Their accounts described a pattern of alleged criminal conduct.

Prosecutors have argued that the defendant led a criminal enterprise involved in illicit activities, while the defense has maintained that the evidence does not support the serious charges, which include trafficking and racketeering. The defendant has pleaded not guilty.

The executive has been in custody since his arrest in late 2024 following a federal investigation. Law enforcement raids on his properties at that time allegedly uncovered large quantities of substances and other items cited by prosecutors in the case.

According to court documents, the government alleges the defendant used his influence, coupled with intimidation and the distribution of narcotics, to coerce individuals into participating in recorded sexual performances. Testimony during the trial included graphic descriptions of these alleged events and claims of sustained physical and emotional abuse from former partners.

The jury of eight men and four women began its deliberations earlier this week after closing arguments concluded.
