NESSA BARRETT EMBRACES EMPOWERMENT WITH NEW ALBUM AND FASHION COLLABORATION

Singer-songwriter Nessa Barrett has released her second studio album, AFTERCARE, an introspective project she describes as a journey toward personal healing and empowerment. The album, which arrived in mid-November, serves as a creative exploration of complex themes surrounding intimacy and self-discovery.

Barrett explains that the record originated from a desire to confront topics she had previously found challenging. “I wanted to write from a place of creative freedom and delve into a new emotional landscape,” she shared. “This album was my way of healing, of building a more confident and empowered version of myself, and I hope it offers that same sense of release for anyone who listens.”

The artist, who first gained prominence through social media, has consistently used her platform to advocate for mental health awareness. She views her music as a vital channel for connection and support. “Prioritizing mental health is essential. I aim to be open about my own experiences to let people know they’re not alone,” Barrett noted. “My music is meant to be a safe space—the kind of voice I needed when I was struggling.”

This theme of empowerment also inspired her recent collaboration with the fashion retailer Nasty Gal. Barrett highlighted the synergy between the brand’s ethos and the core message of her album. “Their foundation in female empowerment resonated deeply with me. It felt like a perfect partnership,” she said. The exclusive capsule collection launched in tandem with the album’s release.

For Barrett, fashion is a powerful extension of her artistry, especially on stage. “What I wear is a huge part of my performance. It helps me feel expressive and comfortable every night,” she explained. She draws inspiration from various sources, including iconic styles, but focuses on cultivating a personal aesthetic. “I value developing my own consistent style above just following trends. It’s about communicating who I am.”

The singer emphasized her appreciation for brands that make style accessible. “Creativity and fashion should be for everyone. It’s important that people can find pieces that make them feel confident and empowered, regardless of budget,” Barrett stated.

With AFTERCARE, Nessa Barrett continues to evolve her sound and message, channeling personal reflection into a project aimed at fostering resilience and self-assurance.
