NEW ALLEGATIONS SURFACE OF RACIST REMARKS WITHIN ROYAL CIRCLES

by Hannah Southwick

Fresh claims have emerged regarding racially insensitive comments allegedly made by senior members of the British monarchy. According to recent reports, these remarks targeted high-profile individuals, including internationally celebrated athletes.

An author and commentator has stated that a member of the extended royal family named two pet sheep after tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams. This act, described as part of a “weird air of abstraction” among some aristocracy, is presented as an example of deeply ingrained attitudes. Separately, it is alleged that the current monarch once used a racially derogatory nickname for a close friend of Indian heritage.

These claims bring renewed attention to longstanding discussions about race and the institution. They echo previous, highly publicized allegations made several years ago by a senior royal couple. During a televised interview at that time, the couple revealed that there had been conversations within the family about how dark their unborn son’s skin might be. The husband expressed profound hurt that his family did not publicly defend his wife against racially charged media criticism.

Following that earlier interview, the royal household issued a statement acknowledging that the issues raised, particularly concerning race, were concerning and would be addressed privately. The couple, however, subsequently stepped back from their official duties and relocated abroad. Reports in recent years have indicated sporadic efforts to heal the rift within the family.

The latest allegations, stemming from a podcast interview, have not been independently verified by the individuals or institutions named. They contribute to an ongoing public conversation about historical attitudes and modern accountability within one of the world’s most watched families.
