A posthumously published memoir contains a detailed allegation that Prince Andrew was aware of a young woman’s age before an alleged sexual encounter, even comparing her to his own children.
According to the book, the late Virginia Giuffre recounted a meeting in London in March 2001. She stated that Prince Andrew, upon learning she was 17 years old, remarked that his daughters were “just a little younger.” At that time, his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, were 12 and 11 years old, respectively.
The memoir describes Giuffre being introduced to the prince through socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. An excerpt recalls Maxwell waking Giuffre that day, telling her she would “meet a handsome prince.” The account alleges the evening concluded with a sexual encounter for which Giuffre was later paid.
The book also revisits a now-infamous photograph from that night, showing Andrew with his arm around a teenage Giuffre. The prince has previously denied ever meeting her, suggesting in a 2019 television interview that the photograph may have been altered.
Further allegations in the text describe a visit to a nightclub, where Andrew is characterized as an awkward dancer, and claims about his physical condition that contradict his own past statements.
Prince Andrew has consistently and categorically denied all allegations of sexual activity with Giuffre. The claims resurface in her memoir, released posthumously after her death earlier this year.
