A memoir released posthumously recounts a 2001 meeting between the author and a prominent British royal, including the origins of a widely circulated photograph.
The book describes preparations for the evening by Ghislaine Maxwell, who reportedly told the then-teenager she would be meeting a “handsome prince.” The day was spent shopping for an outfit before the royal’s arrival.
Upon meeting, the royal correctly guessed the author’s age was 17. The memoir recalls him as appearing youthful and references his reputation at the time.
The account details how the now-notorious photograph came to be. The author writes that she retrieved a disposable camera, concerned her mother would disapprove if she did not get a picture with someone so famous. Jeffrey Epstein is identified as the person who took the photo, which shows the royal with his arm around her waist.
The group later went to an exclusive nightclub, where they danced and had drinks. The memoir states that upon returning to the residence, Maxwell instructed the author to provide the royal with the same “services” she provided for Epstein.
The subsequent encounter is described in the text. The royal is portrayed as entitled, with the interaction lasting less than thirty minutes. The following day, Maxwell reportedly said the author had “done well,” and the author states she was paid $15,000 by Epstein afterward.
The royal has consistently denied any wrongdoing. The memoir was released following the author’s death earlier this year.
