PRINCE WILLIAM ATTENDS ROYAL ASCOT ALONGSIDE KING CHARLES

by Hannah Southwick

The Prince of Wales was present at the prestigious Royal Ascot horse racing event this week, joining his father, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla. His appearance followed the last-minute cancellation of his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, who had been scheduled to attend.

Prince William, dressed in formal morning attire including a top hat and suit, participated in the ceremonial duties of the day. He was seen in the royal procession and is set to present a trophy during the multi-day sporting fixture.

The absence of the Princess of Wales has drawn public attention, coming several months after she shared news of a cancer diagnosis and the subsequent preventative chemotherapy. A former palace aide was quoted suggesting the princess is wisely prioritizing her health and a gradual return to public engagements, focusing on her recovery and family.

Just days earlier, Catherine had joined the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Trooping the Colour ceremony, an appearance described by observers as confident and positive. King Charles III, who is also undergoing treatment for cancer, attended the Ascot event as well.

The Royal Ascot, a cornerstone of the British social calendar, continues with its schedule of races and traditions. The Prince of Wales’s solo engagement underscores the royal family’s commitment to their duties while navigating personal health challenges.
