ROYAL WEBSITE UPDATES PRINCE ANDREW’S PROFILE FOLLOWING TITLE RENUNCIATION

The official website of the British monarchy has updated its references to Prince Andrew, removing his formal title of Duke of York. The change follows his recent public announcement that he would no longer use his peerage titles and military affiliations.

Andrew’s profile on the site now lists him simply as “Prince Andrew.” The adjustment appears to have been made several days after his statement was released. While the main biographical header has been altered, some historical text within the profile still references his former ducal title in the context of his past naval service.

Last week, the prince issued a declaration stating he would relinquish all his royal titles and honorary military roles. In his message, he cited a desire to prevent ongoing scrutiny from becoming a distraction to the King and the wider work of the royal family. He reiterated a previous denial of allegations made against him.

The decision is understood to have been made in consultation with King Charles III. It coincides with renewed public attention on allegations from past legal cases, following the publication of a memoir by a central figure in those proceedings. The book contains personal accounts of interactions with the prince, which he has consistently denied.

The website update is seen as an administrative reflection of the prince’s changed status, as he remains a member of the royal family but without the use of his former styles and honours.
