A prominent international businessman has died following a sudden medical emergency while playing polo in England. Sunjay Kapur, 53, reportedly collapsed on June 12 after suffering a severe allergic reaction believed to have been triggered by a bee sting.

Kapur was the Chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading automotive systems manufacturer. The company confirmed his passing in a statement, praising him as a “visionary leader” whose dedication was instrumental to its success.

Tributes have poured in from various institutions associated with Kapur. Ashoka University, where he was a valued member, expressed its condolences to his family, noting he would be remembered for his leadership in India’s business community. His alma mater, The Doon School, also released a statement honoring him as a distinguished alumnus and a passionate advocate for making sports like polo more accessible. They highlighted his role as a global business leader and his lifelong commitment to fitness and community service.

Just hours before his death, Kapur had publicly expressed his sympathy for the families affected by a separate aviation tragedy.

He is survived by his two children. There has been no public statement from royal circles regarding the loss.
