In her first public remarks since the killing of her husband, the widow of a prominent conservative figure delivered a solemn address from his former studio, sharing the profound personal toll of the tragedy.
Speaking with composure, she described the moment she was forced to explain her husband’s absence to their three-year-old daughter, who had recently celebrated a birthday. When the child asked, “Where’s daddy?” she replied, “Baby, daddy loves you so much. Don’t you worry. He’s on a work trip with Jesus.”
She memorialized her husband as a man of deep faith and familial devotion, stating he was driven by a desire to shape a better future for their two young children. “He laid down his life for me, for our nation, for our children,” she said, adding that he wished to be remembered for his courage and his beliefs.
The couple, who married in 2021, shared a daughter born in 2022 and a son born earlier this year. Their relationship, she noted, was founded on shared religious conviction.
In her closing statements, she expressed unwavering resolve, asserting that those responsible for the act would be held accountable for the damage inflicted on her family and her husband’s work. “All the evildoers responsible have no idea what they have done,” she stated.
The suspect in the case, a 22-year-old man, was arrested and is being held without bail. He faces potential charges including aggravated murder and obstruction of justice, with formal charges expected to be filed in the coming days.
